Gilles Buelens is a Belgian designer and maker of collectible design. With a background as an industrial engineer, Gilles developed a strong foundation in material properties, production techniques and structural behavior. However, it was during his additional studies in furniture design at Thomas More (VOMO, Mechelen) that he discovered his true creative passion.

In 2023, Gilles began working alongside renowned collectible design artist Tim Vranken. Under Vranken’s mentorship, he refined the craft of solid wood, learning to create powerful visual statements through minimalistic forms and sustainable yet high-quality materials.

Driven by a personal vision, Gilles recently launched atelier.buelens, his own design studio. His debut collection, ‘RAMP’, showcases his signature design language: a focus on pure, honest materials and a subtle play of lines and volumes, connected in a logical yet poetic manner.

Through his work, Gilles aims to create objects that balance simplicity and sophistication, pieces that are built in a logical manner while also pleasing the eye. With a deep respect for craftsmanship and materials, Gilles is carving out his own design language.
