BLÄT design

BLÄT design is a collaboration between interior architects Céline Lambrechts and An Gillis. Since 2024, they have been working together with a shared mission: to reintroduce Belgian wool into the local design landscape. Today, this natural resource is largely discarded or burned — a lost opportunity they aim to reverse.

In partnership with local yarn and textile producers, Céline and An are researching the potential of Belgian wool. Supported by Vlaanderen Circulair, their research provides valuable insights for designers, highlighting the possibilities of this underused material and mapping out the key players within the Belgian wool ecosystem. The project builds further upon the Binôme project of Gillis & Aniss that was rewarded with a Henry van de Velde Award 2024 in which Céline also played a crucial role with her knowledge of textile design and local wool.

Beyond wool research and producing textile samples, BLÄT is also developing a series of interior objects in which Belgian wool takes center stage. Their first pieces — a collection of woolen blankets — will be launched in October 2025, celebrating both the material and the craft.
