De Winter Design

Founded in 2024, De Winter Design rediscovers and commercializes the previously unknown furniture designs of architect Roger De Winter. As his grandson, Jan established the company to honor a remarkable body of work that remained hidden for decades.

Roger De Winter's furniture designs, created alongside his architectural practice, were never commercially produced during his lifetime, making them a completely undiscovered treasure in mid-century design history. These pieces represent an authentic voice from the era, untouched by commercial considerations.

De Winter Design's inaugural project is Roger De Winter's 1962 lounge chair—a sophisticated piece exemplifying the era's functional elegance. After extensive development to honor the original design while meeting contemporary standards, the company has moved from prototype to first production, marking the chair's public debut over 60 years after conception.

The company's approach combines archaeological precision with reverence, carefully studying original drawings and prototypes to maintain the designer's vision while adapting to modern manufacturing. This represents not just furniture production, but the resurrection of a lost design legacy.

For The Now 2025 marks De Winter Design's debut, introducing the design community to an architect whose furniture work has remained entirely unknown until now.
