Liesbet Braeckman Studio

Liesbet Braeckman discovered her passion for textiles without a formal art or design education. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when she was temporarily out of work, she began experimenting with the textile manipulation technique ‘faux chenille’ using surplus fabrics from the interior sector. She adapted the technique to her own style and, through self-teaching, grew into the designer she is today.

She creates unique and tactile wall pieces with rich textures and voluminous forms, made from surplus materials sourced from Belgian weaving mills and textile producers. Her works are circular and offer high acoustic benefits. Liesbet aims to show that fabrics with imperfections or unsellable textiles can be transformed into meaningful art.

Her process is labor-intensive, but every step is worth it as an alternative to waste. Liesbet often works with circular or organic shapes to emphasize the natural movement and layering of textiles. Each piece is carefully crafted in her studio in Antwerp, Belgium.
