studioloco

I am Lotte Cobbaert, interior architect and furniture designer in the making. In 2023, I obtained my master's degree in interior architecture from KU Leuven. I am currently following the continuing course in furniture design, where I am immersed in designing and making furniture that is not only functional, but also surprising, moving and connecting.

From a great love for wood and craft, I like to work with my hands. Experimenting, sketching and building models are fixed parts of the design process for me. In each design I look for simplicity and logic, but also playfulness and freedom in use. What fascinates me is how people relate to an object, both physically and emotionally.

My studio, Studio Loco, is named after myself: LOtte CObbaert. But at the same time it also stands for for a fresh and sometimes headstrong look at design. A good example is my graduation project TOPPLEchair, a rocking chair that stimulates movement, offers comfort and is just that little bit different.

I believe furniture is more than utilitarian objects. They tell something about how we live, move, work and rest. In each design I try to capture those stories, with an eye for material, form and feel.
